Attachment opportunities for students are available for at least 12 weeks and typically
much longer.
Depending on your department's requirements, these student worker jobs may be used

The attachment positions are open from January 2007 semester and beyond.
Summary
A key
member of the support services team, the Software Support Intern provides customer
support for Synergy-Pro products. For suitable candidates the hours can be flexible
and adjusted to fit your class schedule.
Responsibilities
Assist with support web
development for both internal and external customers, including technical assistance,
product education and problem resolution, escalating calls to the appropriate personnel
Assist with departmental projects supporting customer management and key performance
indicators.
Requirements
- Student in Computer Science/Engineering or MIS program.
-
Credits in current track of Microsoft.NET certification a definite advantage.
- Knowledgeable
in basic computer programming concepts.
- Knowledge in SQL, Oracle, or Access database
concepts. Preference will be given to those students that have completed a database
class, or have had database experience.
- Must be willing to work independently, take
initiative, and learn quickly.
- Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication
skills.
- Strong team focus and high level of initiative.
- Must be willing to work
part time during the school year and then increase to full time hours during summer
or school break periods.

Job Functions
Job functions include but are not limited to:
- Design, construction, and thorough testing of all areas of Synergy-Pro software products
- Participate in writing documentation relating to Synergy-Pro software products.
- Providing accurate estimates and complete project tasks in a timely manner.
- Develop a very good functional and technical knowledge of Synergy-Pro software products, as well as Windows, software development, and programming techniques, as they relate to Synergy-Pro products.
- Develop strong working relationships with all employees of Synergy-Pro.
Education:
- University Degree or Equivalent Qualification in Computer Studies. or
- At least two years active and current experience with tools in the skills section or
- Microsoft Certification in .NET
Requisite Skills
- Proficient in VB 6, VB.NET or C#.
- Proficient in Ms SQL Server or other RDBMS.
- Proficient in HTML, ASP, ASP.NET and Web design.
- Proficient in applying Object Oriented concepts and techniques.
- Proficient in Visual Studio 6, Visual Studio .NET.
- Proficient in Source Code Control Systems.
Additional
- Knowledge of Agile Software Development principles.
- Experience working as part of team will be an added advantage.
- Sample of previous work done will be an added advantage.

Job Responsibilities
Synergy-Pro is interested in students with excellent news and feature writing
skills to pen articles for its newsletter, Web site and support publications. This
is a great job for students interested in professional careers in journalism or
public relations. The job primarily involves gathering and writing news and feature
stories for general and targeted audiences. This is first, and foremost a writing
position. Other duties could include copy editing, photography, graphic design,
desktop publishing and Web development, but writing skills are most important.
Job Requirements
- Writing skills are paramount. Writing samples are required!
- Prefer applicants with journalism or corporate communications experience, as well
as an excellent command of the English language.
- Interviewing and critical thinking skills are important, as is a pleasant demeanor.
- Secondary skills include editing, photography, graphic design, desktop publishing,
Web development and marketing.
- Proficiency in any of the following software applications will be advantageous:
QuarkXPress, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Image Ready, Illustrator, Flash,
Fireworks, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Access, Excel, Word, etc.
